SB8 / YB11 Axle specs
Hi,
Could some one please mesure their front axle for me? You don not have to remove it just mesure the diamiter of the left and right side and mesure the width...
Thanks,
Gray

SB8 and YB11 the axle through the bearings is 25mm, the thick end seems to be 29mm on both, battery dead on the caliper so old school reading. The Thick ends are different though. Hope this helps.

The frork centers on both bikes are the same, the wheels and rotors are the same. The YB11 axle is about 8-10mm longer because it is not flush with the fork the SB8R is. I think they would interchange with each other. Let me know what you are trying to do maybe I could be more of a help.

Hi,
I have a set of forks from a DB7 (marzocchi RAC43) That I picked up that are new. I want to use them on my 750ss they bolt up perfectly in the clamps and I was told they used a 30-25 axle. I found out otherwise when my 30-25 (999) axle would not fit. I found a sb8/yb11 axle on ebay for 25 Euros and wanted to know if it would fit. The DB7 axle will fit but is too long and will need to be modified... The sb8 looks like it is a bit long and will also need to be shortened as it is only 25 and not 150 Euros this seems like the direction to go for me.
The 999/748-998 axle cannot be turned down because the axle is only 2.35mm thick turing it down to 1.8mm is a little too thin for me.
Thanks for the info

The 999 and 998 axles are different. I don't know how, but there are different part numbers.
Axles, Titanium for Motorcycles
From what I can tell, the 999 axle fits a RAC 50 and the 998 axle fits the RAC 43.
Marzocchi RAC works forks now in stock with pics!

I now have a sb8 axle and it is quite heavy and too short... it is 260mm long (like the 999 axle but the right side is not made to fit flush with the fork, so is in effect 10mm shorter)
anybody know how long the db7 axle is? Just mesuring the width of forks at the bottom would be enough...
Thanks,
Gray

Yes the 748-998 axle is the same thickness as the 749-999 axle and 30-25 aswell... the difference is the 30mm shoulder on the 748-998 axle is longer.
