DB2 Sidestand and Mirrors?
My DB2 arrived last week and I'm in the process of doing the valves, belts, and a few other things, but I am curious about two items:
1) The sidestand is a suicide/self-retracting unit, and I'd prefer it was not. It isn't designed like the one that was on my ST2 where I just had to grind off a protrusion on the bolt. Is there a trick to making this a non-suicide stand, or is there another sidestand from another Duc that I can use in its place that will clear the fairing? (SS900, M900, etc)
2) The mirrors on my bike are aftermarket and the mirror sections are pretty loose ont he stalk with no way I can see to tighten them. I figured I could use a small amount of silicone to hold the mirrors in position temporarily. Anyone have suggestions for replacement mirrors?
Thanks.

Any mirror off a bimota that looks like the Ducati 916 well work. The Ducati mirror will not, the base is different, the glass or mirror part will go in all of them. If you go down a few posts there is a picure of my DB2 and SB8RS the mirrors on the SB8RS would work on the DB2 they are Italian and I can not remeber the name of them, but there have been copies made in China, I would look on Ebay.

The side stand issue would take relocating the spring attachment point on the frame/bracket. I'm thinking about welding a small pin to the stand making it easier to deploy while sitting on the bike.
I'm using CRG Lanesplitters on my DB2. I also got the stock mirrors with the bike but they're not for sale.
The CRG products are well designed and made, not cheap though. The PO also used some black button head screws to attach the upper fairing mounts but I may make/use something that looks more like the rest of the fairing mounting screws.

Mine has gold anodized aluminum bolts. When I removed the fairings, 2-3 of them were stripped, and a couple of the really long ones were bent. One of them was wiggled in a stretched out "S" shape. I'll probably replace all of them with stainless.

Toss the mirrors and go to bar end mirrors is you want to see anything. My stock ones have been in storage since Feb 1994 when I got my bike.
For the side stand I have a photo of how I fixed it. I believe the black spacer on the spring is one from an 851. I will try and post the photo but if that does not work I can send it to you via email.
What I did was remove the whole assembly from the bike. Drill and tap a new hole and put a bolt through it that was inside a small tube to give it some rigidity. I did this about 1995 so it has been in place for most of the almost 17K miles this bike has been ridden.

Hi Jim!...
My bike only has a spring going up to point A on your picture. IIRC, it has a hole at point B, and I do not have part C. I can get part C from a spare Paso 750 sidestand I have. I'll have to look at my bike's arrangement a little closer. I can always get Marty (the guy with the black Buell from '09 DFS and a couple of CMP trackdays) to make me anything I may need.

I was looking at mine and figured on doing the same thing as Jim. Mine has a coaxial dual spring that I think will reach the forward hole. If not I'll either make a joint or source a longer spring. I'm still planning to put some sort of pin or pad to make it easier to deploy while seated too.

Rick
I had that same spring on mine and it would not work. The mounting point for both ends of the spring will force the spring to try to slid over the side stand mounting bolt. The flat plate made it easier to function and within the limits of the fairing opening.
