Whats the latest in light weight batteries?

I have a speed cell in my DB2, great battery with a strong long lasting charge. The bike sat for 8 months and started the bike no problem, with no charge.

I have looked around a little and found this post but it is a little old:
Looking for a lightweight battery for Racing Motorcycle - DIY Electric Car Forums

Here is another site: http://www.antigravitybatteries.com/faq.html

One from the UK: https://www.harris-performance.com/w...Batteries.html

Last: Lightweight Motorcycle Batteries | Products | Full Spectrum Power

Any other ideas?

A friend of mine has been using an A123 Lithium NanoPhosphate 8-cell battery pack on his 749 for over a year. The 8-cell version provides 240CCA and weighs 25oz. Stock battery weighed 9.1 lbs. The vendor says the batteries retain >80% capacity after 2000 deep-cycles, and lose less than 1% stored charge after 6 months. He got it from a guy at the local races that makes them. He paid $145 for it. I not sure why, but I was told to stay away from the ones manufactured in China that are being sold on EBAY!

Basically, ANY regular charger of 2 amps or more will charge it. Not less than 2 amps. If it is an automatic charger, let it do its job. If it is not automatic, 5 amps for 30 minutes will charge it or 20 amps for 15 minutes. If your Battery Tender can charge at 2 amps, it will charge it.

China is doing what Japan did in the early manufacturing days, make a quick buck and who cares. When I was a kid in the 60's (man am I old) they used to say Jap Crap. Well China is on the same road and the question is whether or not they wake up and do as Japan did. I'll buy anything made in Japan now and have for years.

I read the FAQ and it sounds good. There is a dealer local to me so I'll call.
One thing I was amazed about, if you use their search for your make and model, Bimota is actually listed. Wow!!!

That said I found this site too that has a video: ROADRACE MOTORCYCLES Blog Archive FULL SPECTRUM POWER Lightweight Batteries
It would be interesting to hear from any battery experts about these last two.

I have one issue with the Shorai where it stated "First, the cylindrical cells come only in one size, so that the possible shapes and sizes of the starter batteries they make are very limited. As such, battery fit into many vehicles may be poor, or impossible as they are too wide, or too tall."
Well my speed cell is so small compared to the old dino that was in the DB2 that I needed spacers to fill up the battery box. I have yet to remove the battery and put it in a better, lower, closer to the starter location. It will fit in dozens of spots the old dino never would have!!

Here is one of the welders I use to weld the cells in series and parallel with nickel tab. Though this is an image of when I was making a test pack. I've now got custom cut nickel rather than strips as seen here. You can also see the opposed weld head in the background. I use it for another part of the construction. They are both connected to a 630ws dual pulse capacitive discharge welder.

All cell suppliers I'm aware of say to weld, not solder. The heat will damage the cells, which won't be apparent during the build, but will be apparent later on in the cells life (which will be much shorter than it should be).

I Laughed VERY hard seeing this and said a few choice words about you. All in good fun. It's always about the right tools, isn't it?
