BIMOTA SB8K Exhaust options???

What aftermarket exhausts are available for the BIMOTA SB8K Santa Monica model?

I know that the Moto Corse Tunnel Port will not work on the bike.

Are there any slip on and/or full systems made specifically for the SB8K SM ???

Will systems made for the SB8R/SB8RS work on the SB8K SM???......it looks like a dual canister/muffler set for the SB8R/SB8RS might work on the SB8K SM.....but this is just a guess.

Any information on this topic is welcomed.

thanks

hi

I looked into all this when i sold my sb8r and bought my santamonica about 6 years ago. the sb8r cans did not fit on the SM, so i had some new cans made up, 50mm bore, from a specialist exhaust manufacturer which replicate exact looks and dimensions of oe can...........and lost about 5 kg of weight in the process! even fruitier sound as well.

Call Bob at Bimota Spirit. If it exists, he has it or can get it. Dave

Doug, does this mean you got one? or rounding up parts for when you do get one. We are on pins & needles here.

That is a nice clean set up.

I have a Moto Corse Tunnel Port full titanium exhaust system NIB, to fit the BIMOTA SB8R/SB8RS models. I think that the first thing I might do is see if this can be modifies to fit the Santa Monica.

I also have a brand new BIMOTA SB8R/SB8RS seat/tail carbon fiber section . Maybe I can put this on the Santa Monica alone with the tunnel port exhaust and have a Santa Monica - SB8R/SB8RS hybrid.....?????

Another simpler option would be to gut the stock OEM exhaust canisters/mufflers and put open tubing and packing in them creating an open/race system from the OEM exhaust.

I do like the option you took. The exhaust was done extremely well. Its a very professional job.

Thanks for the info and the picture....

Ill continue researching this and Im sure that Ill come up with something. Ive made and have had help making a number of custom exhaust systems on a number of my bikes, sports cars, and trucks/ 4x4s over the years. Im very much aware that almost anything is possible with enough time, money and the right materials, tools, and help.

I understand that very few SB8K Santa Monicas were made so there is not alot of demand for custom exhausts.

The Tesi 3D is similar, but you can get a Zard slipon ( Zard may make a full system for the Tesi 3D some day but dont hold your breath). Moto Corse also has both slip on and full systems for the Tesi 3D........

Ive look at Moto Corse and I dont think they make a set up for the Santa Monica even though its close to the same production numbers as the Tesi 3D......

thanks for the help so far

thanks for the comments!

the route that i took was newly fabricated silencers only, and therefore using the oe downpipes/headers.

if i was you i would try installing the moto course tunnel port system.................and see how far you get.......and then call up your preferred exhaust fabricator. mine was done by a small company who makes formula one car/rally car/high spec car competition systems.

by the way, it is a great ride, light and agile....................but only 117 actual rear wheel horse power as a stock bike, beware! the other thing about it is that mine came with the wrong front and rear weight biases. I had to spend some time experimenting with raising the rear (on the ride height adjuster) and dropping the forks through the yokes - triple clamps. i do have a final set up which i consider much better for corner turn in. if do do buy the bike.................and get this far with overcoming this (minor) problem, let me know and i will give you my exact settings to aim for. like any other modern sports bike, set up does make a difference.

I asked the possibility Moto Corse Slip On for my SB8K Gobert and I am waiting for an answer.
Recently I saw a Santa Monica pic on sale in Italy with Carbon Akrapovic Slip on.
