DB7 rider opinions
Anyone ridden one?
Have opportunity to get one but mean selling the 09 R1 and not sure how I'd get on with it? Seen as commute 50 km round trip each day and use it all the time Could I do same with DB7?
Otherwise is it worth trying a 1098 or are they really that much of a different ride?

DB7 vs 1098S
Rode back to back with a buddy last weekend.
DB7:
Less wind turbulance
Less weight on your wrists (Even with the 1098 having Helibars)
Feels more nimble
Firmer, more narrow seat, but it works fine for a tankful.
Much less leg & crotch heat !
Better stock exhaust note (DB7 removeable baffles removed)
No accessable storage. (There is an empty tail section)
Brakes seem less grabby to me.
Side stand works better. Less likely to roll off.
Too stiffly sprung front end for 180lb street riders.

i am about to sell my 1098s tricolore on the basis of it being completely eclipsed in every dept by the oro nero.
1098s has 2 principle problems:
1. heavy to turn (even with power 1 michelins and ride height adjuster spot on)
2. makes its power above 7k rpm. not much good below this. i have a dyno chart confirming this overlaid against 2011 rc8r, 998s and 999r.
in answer to your question: definitely buy the db7 if you have an opportunity. light, torquey and ..............flash!

We have been down this road at this forum before. In a head to head with a 1098R (really an 1198R) the Bimota although down considerably on power was only a tick slower on the track but quicker on the street. (A Cycle World test, Google it.). Cheaper too. I ride the snot out of my DB7, selling off my 1098R rather quickly and not regretting that decision for a second. Dave

Does anyone know what Brembo master cylinder the DB7 uses? 19x18, 19 x 20 or will RCS work with the standard levers?

i think that it is the same spec as whatever the 1098/1198 range use, whatever that may be.
aarrgghh...............levers! the worst that have ever come as oe equipment in my opinion. too chunky and without enough fine feel. your query is quite coincidental in timing. very shortly i am about to swap the clutch and front brake master cylinders (and levers) for a pair of Magura radial ones...............which come with a decent set of levers. in fact the 2 x oe levers are the only things that i can criticise about the bike as a whole. incidentally, the 2 x Magura radials are coming off my imminently to be sold 1098s which is now dust when compared to oro nero (or indeed standard db7) hope this all helps!
otherwise, this bike rocks! have you bought one yet?

Yes, the levers have a narrow radius cross-section.
I've been pondering a radius change from day one.
