BIMOTA DB5 / DB5R questions

Im wanting to know if the fairings on these bikes are made of carbon fiber or plastics or a mixture of both materials.

If they are a mix of both carbon fiber and plastics, which fairing parts are carbon, and which parts are plastic?

Im interested in finding out this bit of knowledge for both the DB5 and the DB5R.

The reason I ask is I have seen these bikes advertised as having carbon fiber fairings, and I may be wrong, but I thought that the DB5 had a plastic fairing and that maybe the DB5R uses at least some carbon.

This is a common mistake I see all the time went discussing other BIMOTA models, especially the SB8R/SB8RS bikes;

Most people think that these bikes have all carbon fiber fairing when in reality 6 pieces of the multi section fairing are actually made of painted plastics ( the 2 pieces of the belly pan, the 2 side panels of the fairing, and the 2 front sections of the fairing behind the front wheel)....

thanks for any confirmation on this.

Im hope that some DB5 and DB5R owners add comment since they should know this.

thanks

I know my DB7 was all carbon. I had a full set of DB5 bodywork in my hand a couple weeks ago and it was all carbon as well. Don't know if they changed this or not depending on year. I heard the DB8 has some plastic on it now. Will have to see for myself to believe anything from the Italians The SB8 Santa Monica is all carbon. No plastic bodywork anywhere! Even plastic parts like the airbox that are hidden are carbon as well.

My understanding is only the Carbon Framed DB7's have CF Fuel Tanks.
Hence, why the Carbonio has a Gloss Black Fuel Tank.

I wouldn't be suprised if the DB5R have carbon fiber fairings but the DB5, are you sure it isn't fiber glass like the DB2?

Very true. Forgot about the tank. all the bimota's except the Santa Monica and Oronero have plastic tanks. May have missed one or two but probably due to lack of sleep How much of the DB5 is carbon wrapped glass only someone who wrecked one can tell. Anyone out there unfortunate enough to know the answer??
