BIMOTA Tesi 3D wheels???

I am aware of only 3 different wheel options for the BIMOTA Tesi 3D model;

The stock BIMOTA OEM Black wheels that come on the standard Tesi 3D, which are case aluminum wheels made by ???....

The Gold colored Marvic CNC machined wheels that come on the Tesi 3D LE/ Limited Edition , these wheel are forged aluminum, and both lighter weight, and stronger than the black cast aluminum wheels.

And the only aftermarket wheels I can find for the Tesi 3D are (believe it or not) the BST carbon fiber wheels, that are the lightest weight wheels made, but super expensive selling for $4500 USD a set.

The OEM Tesi 3D wheels are also super expensive since so few sets were ever made ( the Tesi 3D is one of the most rare exotics out there with only a few dozen made from what Ive gathered).

Does anyone know of any other wheels for the Tesi 3D????

Yesterday I ordered a set of the BST carbon fiber wheels ( the last set they had.....lucky me )....so these will be going onto my Tesi 3D project bike currently in progress...

I have a set of BST carbon wheels on one of my BMW project bikes and Im sold on these wheels. They make big changes in the handling and performance of the bike, and shed lots of weight too. They look beautiful as well, and BST's workmanship is superb. The only down side is the high cost. ( Believe it or not, but the 2 different OEM Tesi 3D wheel sets cost almost as much as the carbon BST wheels.....BIMOTA wants alot of money for these OEM wheels, Im sure because so few sets were/are made. The Rear Tesi 3D wheel is fairly normal but the front wheel is truely unique because of the hub centered steering. The OEM front wheel retail/MSRP is $3200 USD. The rear wheel is around $1800 USD ).

Im sure Ill be completely happy with the BST carbon wheels, but Im open to other options. After all, its for a custom project bike and the unique looks of the wheels are important. The nice thing about the BST carbon wheels, is that they are as exotic as the Tesi 3D is......

If anyone knows of any other wheel options, Id like to hear from you.

Thanks for any leads in this area.

Happy New Year ...

Yeah, I noticed the BSTs too. Kinda surprised that they made it for the Tesi.

I don't think $4500 is outrageous given the advantages that it provides. And compared to the original $36,000 MSRP of the Tesi or the $5000 of the stock wheels, $4500 doesn't sound too bad.

Your Tesi project is sounding to be quite a ripper - can't wait to see it!!

Its my understanding that BST made one production run of carbon fiber wheels after a special minimum order was placed. BST made only a handful of extra sets to make available to the buying public. I seriously doubt that the will ever make any more for this model since it is so very rare.

Does anyone know for sure how many Tesi 3Ds were made??? According to an article on the Tesi 3D that is in the Barber Motorcycle museum ( they have Tesi 3D LE # 15....I have Tesi 3D LE #14), only 29 Tesi 3Ds were ever made ( Im not sure if this is correct or not. Maybe only 29 LEs Limited Edition Tesi 3Ds were made....).

I was extremely surprised to find out that BST made any carbon wheels for the Tesi in the first place. Since they certainly will not ever sell very many of them. I doubt that very many Tesi 3D owners will be wanting to change/upgrade the bikes wheels. My guess is that a large percentage of BIMOTA owners keep their bikes stock or as close to stock as possible since the brand is considered by many/most as collector items.

I can see the advantage of keeping a bike stock, but I personally enjoy upgrading and improving upon an already beautiful design. Especially if its one that I might ride.

Does anyone by chance know how many BIMOTA Tesi 3D bikes have been made??? How many are the LEs ( Limited Editions that come with the gold CNC machined forged Marvic wheels, and alot of extra billet components as well as a special edition numbered wrist watch), vs how many Tesi 3D standard models are there ( the standard Tesi 3D has cast black wheels and a number of less expensive components on it than the LE...). ???

Any replies are welcomed.

Thanks

Doug

I get the BST carbon wheels yesterday. They are the newer 5 spoke design with the spokes set at an angle instead of the straight 7 spoke design I have on one of my other bikes.

All I can say is "Thank you" to MOTOWHEELS for setting me up with these great wheels.

Ive done business with MotoWheels a number of times and I highly recommend them. They have great customer service and competitive prices, and they sell the really hard to find exotic stuff too.

Im one step closer to getting my show bike done.

thanks again

Doug
