Wheel Removal Question...

On the front wheel, are there any special tool needed for removal?

The manual shows a "wrench for front spindle", is this needed.

Does anyone have a link to a step by step for the front wheel removal, or is just remove the spindle nut, slide out the spindle and off comes the wheel?

Do you have to get a hold of the right side of the spindle prior to turning off the nut?

make sure the rear wheel is strapped to the ground whilst the bike is on it's centre stand. use an allen key or screwdriver to retain the axle firmly in position when ondoing the locknut (probably not necessary as the axle retaining nuts in the front suspension will do so anyhow. undo the axle nut after which you undo the bolts in the lowest part of the front suspenson. take out the axle and support the wheel at the same time. once the axle is out you should be able to rotate the wheel out forward unless your rear ride height is adjusted to (more than) max. get someone to help you to left the bike at the front if that is the case to reel yr frt wheel out. reverse procedure to getting it in. make sure you use enough (cupper) grease to slide the axle back in (to prevent dissassembly issues later). tighten the wheel axle nut first (so all slots in well) and then tighten up the axle retaining bolts on the lowest part of the forks. if you do it the other way around you may be trying to bend the front legs laterally inward! and suspension will be totally different!

hope this helps, ciao

Joris,

Thanks, that helped a lot.

I figured it was that simple, but did not want to try before asking.

I will be supporting the front end by using a ratcheting strap over a ceiling beam and around the triple tree.

BTW, bike is a ST4s
