I'm Perplexed Regarding ST Parts Availability

I am having a great time riding my 1999 Ducati ST2, and over the past few months, I've seen a lot of interesting tweaks and after-market parts which I'd like to apply to my bike.

However, finding the parts I want has been frustrating and difficult. I'm currently looking for carbon fiber replacements for the two pieces of fairing surrounding the instruments. I've seen them once on eBay, but I've never found them again. Likewise, carbon fiber air scoops are very difficult to find.

Why is it so difficult to find new after-market parts for these bikes? I've checked with most of the CF makers who sell over the 'net without success. New parts appear briefly online, then disappear again.

I had an easier time finding OEM parts for my 1949 DeSoto than for this Italian bike.

C/F fairing Vents

Mark, I got them from Section8superbke. It may have been a little bit of a wait, but not too bad. They only show a few things on the web-site but calling them would be the way to go. Ph.248-669-6633 Also another good parts source (at least it's been for me) is BCM Ducati. The Ph. # is 603-524-4898. Gregg

Over the past 4-6 months I've seen the carbon instrument surrounds on ebay about 3 or 4 times. They don't seem to be regularly available, but they do pop up every so often. I don't know if anyone makes them other than DP, so that may be why they're hard to find.

CF Parts for ST2

Joey,

I too have been on an eternal search for CF parts for my 98' ST2. I did order the same parts you are looking for; CF 2 Piece Instrument Surround, and CF Fairing Inserts. I ordered them from Feather Carbon and yes, it did take some time for me to receive them. The quality i would rate a 7 out of 10. Another source for CF Parts for the ST2 would be: Sierra Motorcycle Supply. http://www.motosupply.bigstep.com/ca...6944%7C1309000

Good Luck with Tom and Feather Carbon. Just be polite and persistent!

I remember hearing about Geelong Carbon Fibre years ago when I had another bike but never ordered anything from them because I sold the bike. They're in Auz, but have some very nice c/f bits. Maybe they can custom order what you want.

I finally discovered that Tom can be fairly easy to work with if you call him instead of emailing. He freely gives customers his cell number and encourages them to use it. I ordered instrument surrounds and fairing vents a week or two ago. I've found his work to be very acceptable given the price.
