Clutch Lever Disassembly Question

Installing CRG levers 05 ST4s.
Need some help from the Ducati Guru's and Sages here please...

Brake side went fine.

On the Clutch side, I need to remove the "plunger" from the oem lever which actuates the clutch master cylinder as well as the clutch switch.

That part must then be transferred to the CRG lever.

I removed the hot glue covering the slotted screw head.
It will now turn about 1/8 turn either way and stop and the slot is a bit stripped.

It appears there is also a tiny roll pin inserted into one side, maybe to hold the plunger to the clutch lever, but it doesn't go all the way across and so there's no way to push it out...

How do I get this plunger out of the clutch lever?

I can't tell if it is a separate screw in the bottom of the plunger that must be removed before removing the plunger or is it all one piece? (ie plunger with a slotted bottom for installation/removal)

Would the Ducati shop sell those parts separately from the clutch lever? Maybe I just buy one and quit trying to take it apart...

Any help is appreciated...

This topic comes up alot when folks are trying to swap levers. Searches on CRG or Pazzo install will provide you with lots of additional info.

Basically, the glue crap is supposed to keep things in that plunger from moving from the factory settings (read: prevent you from removing it). Don't turn the slotted screw anymore!!! The other screw you're seeing at the bottom is a set screw holding the slotted screw in place. It needs to be removed first using a 1.5mm allen wrench (a good one). Do this very carefully as many a set screw has been stripped. Heat helps. Once that set screw is out, measure how far the actuating pin is sticking out of the cylinder for reinstallation. Unscrew actuating pin (slotted screw) and reinstall in new lever with same distance. Adjust if necessary.

Ducati does not sell these parts individually...have to buy a new OEM lever (North of 75 bucks I think). Use good tools, lots of patience and little force. Some people have an easier time than others so good luck!

Thanks Eviltwin! I just knew one of you guys here would know how to handle it.
It sure is the oddest setup/most complicated gizmo I've ever seen for what should be a simple clutch lever!
But hey, it's Italian...
I should've thought of the set screw, but it was so tiny, I guess it didn't register...
Now, back to the workbench!

OK, the set screw wouldn't budge, so I heated the area a bit with a lighter....
Steady pressure with the Craftsman 1.5mm allen wrench and it finally came out! Looks like it had thread locker on it, so I wouldn't recommend trying it without heat.

Reassembled the CRG and I'm ready to ride again...
