I bought it on eBay from a company in Great Britain called Carbon Trader. The red cap is anodized, so it should be fairly durable. I'm surprised by how closely the cap color matches the original paint.
Yeah, with the price of fuel these days I'm glad I have the lock on mine.
(There's been a 25% rise in "drive-offs" from petrol stations on Oz due to the massive increase in fuel costs lately. Corresponding rise in number plate thefts aswell, so you can stick the stolen one on the car when you drive off without paying.)
Hello
I tried an aftermarket "race" cap, I didn't care for the constant gasoline vapor emissions from it, particularly during warmer weather.
Maybe I got a schmeg style, but when I complained to the vendor I was told "all of the "race" caps do that, 'cause they don't hook-up to the tank vent plumbing".
I took it back off and blew-off the idea.
Does yours route the tank vapors to the underside of the bike?

Under the stock cover was a 1 cm rubber "nipple" which attached to a small vent hole on the tank, but it did not go anywhere from there. I removed the nipple to install the new cap, which also does not vent fumes. I've ridden about 75 miles since installing it yesterday, and I've not noticed gas fumes or leakage so far. We'll see what happens when it gets hot.
