Just my two cents- I've had my '04 ST 3 for about 6 weeks and haven't had any problems with the bike itself. I added a set of Leo Vince CFs that sound great. I tried a Power Commander from FBF, but they sent along the wrong map- I'm hoping to get that corrected soon (assuming I can get it connected- stay tuned!). Otherwise though, it's been a great bike. A lot more bells and whistles than my old ZX-7R!

Burping ST3 S
Hi
Not being alone is little solace. The engine on my ST3 S runs very bad as I mentionned on this forum. I was waiting for the 6k mi. service to give it to another mechanic but the problem is still here; the bike was fine for 2 days than it all started again. I am going to write again to Ducati North America. I think some of these bikes are born bad and there is nothing you can do about it. I dont feel like puting more money like PC and or exhaust.
I'll keep you posted.

In addition to all that, you can bask in the comfort of the smug realization that none of the cheap-beer-guzzling tattoo plastered pot-bellied over the hill neanderthals who think any bike besides an HD is junk willl never show up at any Ducati gathering to ruin the fun. They will likely never find out on their own, and their bikes are too slow to keep up with us.

Unfortunately/fortunately, you're right. My wife is unhappy with the Cowboy Harley in Austin, TX as she feels many of the patrons don't even think the V-Rod is a Harley (it's more a stepchild). Whatever. I remember one time just a few months ago, during a dyno shootout there, a guy with a CBR1000RR asked me if I liked my V-Rod, while looking at it like it was worthless! I said, "What's not to like? It's comfortable and fast!" Some people...

Before you back out, remember that this is just one guy who got all the bad experiences all at once. Contrary to his assertion about Italian manufacturing, most of his problems sound like dealer assembly to me, and he should rightfully exercise his lemon law privileges, and then find a new dealer. "Some assembly required" by all dealers, but by now an '04 should be all sorted out.
I have an '04 ST3 and it's completely satisfying, vastly better than the Honda that preceded it in the garage. Certainly look to me like once you try Italian, you'll never go back.
