Naked ST3??
After my ST3 suffered some damage, I started wondering about a Naked ST3... I like the riding position, but I'm not sure I really need all that plastic, and the silly, (and delicate) frame tabs which hold it together.
Has anyone seen or built a naked ST? Seems like it would be nice to move the Battery somewhere else, and maybe keep the lowers somehow, but I can live without the huge front fairing and the side fairings and expose the lovely frame a bit more.
Just a thought...

There is a naked ST.....
it's called a Monster. I have read that the ST and Monster use the same frame. Take a look at one of the liquid cooled Monsters to get an idea of what your ST might look like disrobed.

Yep. Was riding on one (although it did have the upper and tail pieces installed) for a bit about a month ago while I was trying to dial in throttle bodies, PCIII map and trim values using the old plug read method. Other than the ease of getting at things, I personally think you might as well cover things up. After all, who cares to look at radiator hoses, batteries and such?

I'd have bought a Monster if it had the rear end of the ST. The back of a Monster (and most Buells) are just kinda small for my tastes. No rude comments!

Hey jbcaddy- Nice bike - That's exactly what I want! How hard was that to do? Are those all Ducati/Monster parts you used?

Sorry, not my bike. can't remember where I found those shots, but had to save them for obvious reasons.
I do have a '98 ST2 that I am modding, which is why I saved those shots for inspiration.
mine may end up with an old style SS half fairing

I would think that would look better than a fully naked ST. I just don't find those large, exposed radiators attractive; whether on a liquid cooled Monster or a naked ST.
