New seat alternative
So I'm looking at my bike a few weeks ago, cuz....that's really all I can do lately here in Michigan ...and I'm thinking that seat just isn't getting it. I'd checked out some seating options both here and around the web, and came to the conclusion that Sargent would probably get my business. (I really liked the saddle on Joey Chitwood's ST)
So I called Sargent to find out some particulars, and I'm explaining to a very helpful guy named Rudy that I've got this problem with the seat on my Ducati ST3: It's the most comfortable seat I've ever ridden on, and I want to change it. (Bewildered silence) "You know", he says, "we don't hear that a lot around here..." I went on to explain that while I love the feel, I hate the look.
I'd been considering their World Sport seat because I love the look. So Rudy asks me if I'd seen their Sport Skinz seat covers....I check the link on their website and it looks perfect: A completely new looking seat that you order and install yourself for $100.00 (with Italian flag logo). So I call back and order one. Thirty minutes later I get a call back and I'm told Sargent doesn't have a template for an '05 ST3, but if I'd send my stock seat in and let them make a template, they'll do the install themselves and ship it back in a week.
I just got it back today (5 business day turnaround w/ shipping)....Is this a great deal or what? I'll post pics of it on the bike when I install it tomorrow.

Two bigthumbs up- that looks great. I'm looking forward to seeing the picture of your saddle back on the bike.

It looks beautiful. I love the look of the Sargent seat on my bike. I wish I'd known about the recover option, as I have two other ST seats in the rafters of my garage.

Looks great
Thad, that does look good, I'm anxious to hear if it is still as comfortable as before.

Voila!
OK guys, here's the installed finished project, and I have to say that this is the cheapest, most successful project I've ever done on a bike. I think the pics show that it looks like it was designed for the bike, and a quick scoot reveals that there's absolutely no downside to the ride/feel of the seatcover. To say that I'm happy is a huge understatement.
