To my suprise i look at the part in the bag during payment and realize this parts doesn't look anything like the old parts its replacing.
The looks at me and tell me its the right part. Then i tell him it will never fit.
So he goes in the comptuer and checks up the part ......1998 St2 LT muffler bracket.

The 'New' part looks the right shape for a standard bracket.
Have you tried fitting it to the other side ?
The 'Old' part looks like a typical aftermarket bracket.
The holes on the original cans are place slightly differently (higher and at a slight angle to get the can in tighter) to the usual aftermarket cans supplied. I had to heat and bend my Silmoto brackets to get a neat and tight fit.
What cans do you have and what does the LT stand for ?

Hi guys,
Your are all probably right, i ordered the stock bracket since i didn't think my carbon cans came with a special bracket.I bought the bike has his with aftermarket pipes.
So i will return the part, i'll probably get a machinist to make me the part moreless a copy of the right side for the left side.
I don't really know what brand they are FBF or DP.
Thanks for your answers.

FYI, I have Sil Motor cans on my ST3, and used the stock hangers.

I have a set of Arrow cans that have brackets that look like your original part. I will say though, the left side can is AWFULLY close to the swingarm (especially now that I have the aluminum "S" Swinger on there) so the extra offset that the new part would provide would be a good thing .... just my 2cents

So, will you go back to the dealer and let him know it was your simple mistake and offer an apology or at least an explanation. Guys at the parts counter get this kind of stuff all the time and it would be refreshing to have someone come and say "sorry, my bad!"
