Removing rear fender

Finally got some heat in my garage here to do a few up-grades. Notice that i couldn't remove the rear finder off. Do you need to drop the rear wheel all first???

Ed

Ed, do you mean the hugger or the mudguard that the license plate bolts to ?
You don't need to remove the wheel for either, but they can both be a bit of a bastard due to seized nuts/bolts etc.

Mark.

Mark I mean the hugger. The tip of it (chain guard) hits the underside of the seat. Kind of scared of breaking it.....Have no problem removing the bolts.

That's not right, it shouldn't do that.
I'd say your spring is way too soft for your weight, and/or you need to raise the ride height.

Mark, I should have said it hits the oil breather tank not the seat.... At least I think that is what it is. Haven't got it off yet!!!

Mine does scrap a bit when removing it. Wrap a cloth around the bit making contact and flex it gently out. Of course, my plastic hugger is more flexible than the very nice carbon one that came with the s.

Have a good one.

Actually Ed, thinking abut it a bit, it probably would be a lot easier without the wheel in there.
