Fuel pump/fuel tank - hoses and clamps
How about we pull together some info about hoses and clamp sizes, and once we sort it out, post it in the equivalent parts thread. I'll start things rolling:
When I opened my tank I found 2 sizes of old hose and clamps. The hoses on either side of the fuel filter were larger OD and used 14 mm clamps; the hoses going up to the top of the tank were smaller OD and used the 13 mm clamps. All the clamps were marked "GEMI". I don't know if these hoses and clamps are stock or were replaced by the PO.
To replace the old hoses, I bought 4' of 5/16" ID high pressure (300 PSI) teflon braided line from Desmo Times. As people have observed, it's OD is small - I found that both sizes of the old clamps were too large for this hose.
Car parts stores carry fuel injection hose clamps - often made by Ideal. Ideal makes 2 sizes in their 905 fuel injection (high pressure) hose clamp series that would be useful to us - the smaller size fits the Desmo Times hose.
Part SAE Size Min-Max in. Min-Max mm Hose ID
905-004 4 7/16" = 1/2" 11 - 13 1/4"
905-006 6 1/2" - 9/16" 13 - 15 5/16"
Anyone feel like adding to this? I'm thinking we can talk about it here and post a single note to the equivalent parts thread later.

Good idea but I gave up on using clamps. I now just use stainless safety wire. I make three revolutions with the wire then twist the ends until it squeezes the hose enough to hold it tight.

That's an interesting thread. I almost bought the Desmo Times crimper but didn't at the last minute. The part that seems to be hardest is what's discussed in your thread - that the stock Duc hoses are apparently smaller OD than American 5/16" FI hose and slightly larger OD than the Desmo Times hose. That seems to be the big issue - how do you know what size clamps to get, depending on what hose you buy? Of course, not a problem with the Desmo Times crimper....

These are the Norma cobra clamps that Gilly referred to in his thread Toro Australia : Cobra Clamps
Although these are used in the irrigation industry, the exact same clamp is used in the automotive industry.
Click on the links on the page & it will reveal a sizing page & show the tool.
I have installed 1000's of these clamps on sub surface irrigation jobs & have absolute faith in their clamping ability, I even have these clamps on my workshop air compressor lines, there is no way they can let go.

I got one of those tools and clamps and they do work well. I do find it a real pain to remove without tearing something up when it comes maintenance time though. And you must have exactly the right size for the application. All three of my bikes have different size filter/ hose setups complicating things.

They are a bastard to get apart, but it can be done using the tool sideways to slide the outer off the inner part sideways.
