Collecting parts / With a question

I have slowly been collecting various upgrade parts for my 1999 ST4. I had considered swapping the bike for a 4S but I have been unable to find one I want priced where I think it should be so I have gone ahead and decided to just make my current ride into exactly what I want.

My question is on wheel compatibility. I have already purchased the rear 5 spoke marchesini wheel from and ST4S. I missed out on the front one. IIRC the front one off of an ST4S with ABS will not work nor will the one off an ST3?

Is the only compatible front wheel one that comes from and ST4S non ABS or are there others?

Picked up a set of Pirelli Angles for them. (new)
Picked up a Ducati Designs headlight conversion (new)
Upgraded battery / starter wire kit (new)
14 tooth front counter sprocket (new)

Still looking for:
Front wheel (used)
Exhaust ( tough to find a decent set)(used)

Hi Trader, it sounds like you have a nice collection of parts building up there.
With regard to the front wheel, have a look at 916/996 superbike 5 spokes but paying particular attention to the speedo drive.
The Monster S2R and S4R wheels will probably also fit, but they have the speedo drive off the rear wheel picked up electronically rather than mechanically, but your speedo drive may still fit.
Try downloading any available parts pdf's and cross referencing parts numbers.

Note that the 2004 and later Mk2 models 4s have a speedsensor (on the rear if I remember correctly) and therefore the front wheel will be different. I'm not sure that the speedodrive will fit on the newer wheels .... The discs on the Mk2 are different styling but as the calipers on Mk1 and Mk2 are the same I don't think there are essential differences on that matter.
Also note that the triple clamps and h/bars on the Mk2 are different.

Good luck !

speedo drive

Not sure on the late model OEM wheels for rear speedo bikes--but on after market wheels, you can install the speedo pick-up onto the front Ducati wheel.

The only difference of the ABS version from other STs is the phonic wheel screwed to the LH brake disc which has threaded holes for it. The wheel itself is identical.
I would reckon the wheels from an ST3, S2R, S4R would fit too. They have a spacer where the speedo drive would be but I'll bet they'd accept your speedo drive components.
