Is that hanger not integrated into the OEM aluminum silencer?

The hanger bolts to the muffler. Did your hanger contact the swingarm by chance? I had to make some modifications to the left side bracket in order to keep it from hitting the swingarm.
These ST2's are good bikes in general, but the Ducati engineers were just out to lunch with regard to a few things.

That exactly was happened.
I'm pretty sure it made contact with the swingarm at one point, because its actuallt shipped at the bottom where its suposed to bolt to the muffler.
I tried bending it out but that didnt work verywell so now i need a new one or a doner one in good condition.

I removed the rearest hanger bolt, filed and bent the hanger until it missed the swingarm on the downstroke. The guy I bought the bike from mentioned the shock bottomed out on him - I noticed the same thing a couple times over big bumps. I discovered the deep scratches on the swingarm and the messed up hanger, figuring out the shock had nothing to do with it.
I wonder if this clearance issue has caused some of the engine mount bolts breaking and bending? My rear bolt was bent and not holding torque, which I replaced with a Nichols bolt. All this happened within a month of bike purchase.
