I have a tonered
OK, 34 k on the bike and I have a small tonered on the horizontal cylinder! Nothing to major.
I was thinking that I would pull the jugs, lap the heads to the cylinders, lap the valves, remove any carbon from the pistons, valves and heads, new rings and clips. Just a basic refresh on the top end. I ordered a new top end gasket set.
I may want to paint some of the motor components on the lower end.
Anything I should look for? Any suggestions? What type of paint should I use?
Thanks in advance...

Household interior emulsion should be fine.
I'd use vinyl silk though, It'll wipe down easier.

LO-freakin'-L. How'd you get a tonered on you horiz cyl?? I ony do verts! =P
I was just ready to post about my sticky piston. =)
One of the caliper pistons was hung up (hung, haha). So, I squeezed one too many times. I'm glad I did. They were all a bit nasty (nasty, haha).
Well, just about done and waiting for the Wife to return with some lube. . . I mean fluid...brake fluid. LOL.
Tooooo many IPAs. No breaking the pads tonight. =P
Have a good one.

After a simple lap & clean, a little coppercoat gasket sealer does wonders to get rid of most Tonered problems....
I've sealed 890cc barrels on an older 748s of mine, amazing stuff.....

Interesting... I will give it a shot. Are you referring to applying the sealant around the o rings themselves?

I had to google that.
I'm thinking textured myself.

I wondered whether it would translate well 'across the pond'

Yeah that'd work. Only on the bottom end though, I don't think it would look right on the rest of the motor.
