TPS reset cost

Does $175 sound like a reasonable cost for a dealer to reset the TPS, adjust the throttle bodies and fuel mixture on an ST4?

It's a job that requires no parts, so labor only. $175 is about 2hrs of work. As I'm putting the bike back together after a valve adjust, it takes about 30min max. You could certainly set it up with the airbox in place. It is harder to verify that the horizontal intake is shut. But really, an extra half hour to pull the airbox and reinstall if necessary. So, an hour or about $100 max would be my put.

With the ECU under the seat on an ST4, the fairings can be on, but having them off helps a bit and might save you some money if you left them at home.

Have a good one.

That probably equates to two hours of shop labor, high but not unreal. Figure at least 1/2 hr is just to strip and replace the plastic. You might get a better price if you take of the fairings, bring 'er in naked. My dealer used to discount an hour for that.

I did pull the fairings but they did not discount for the reduced labor time. They did have to use a few small parts that were under $10 total and they also checked the cam belt timing but what is that just pulling the covers and checking the alignment marks?

A zip tie and a lost e-clip are getting pricey these days. Sorry.

You can't check the horizontal belt without removing the battery. That can be a push to the removed fairings.

If it now runs great and is smooth as glass and you didn't have to wait around, then it gives you time to read up on the procedure for next time. =)

Have a good one.

Last year I paid $70 for the same work - fairings had been removed. The biggest issue was the tech set the fuel mixture to the factory spec and in doing so, the bike ran so lean that it would spit, backfire when decelerating, and often stalled on me at unexpected times. It took a second trip (gratis) to have the mixture made richer. After a quick test run to confirm it had been done correctly, the bike ran better than ever.

Here is a good place to start:
BikeBoy.org - Ducati 4V Desmoquattro Non Linear TPS Baseline Adjustment (plus ST3)

Also go back to the main site for a bunch of other great articles.

Otherwise, last night I received desmotimes' 4th edition of the 4v maintanence manual. LT steps you through the maint items for our bikes including detailed EFI setup and TB sync instructions.

I'm pretty certain that there is other good information in the Hall of Wisdom here on duc.ms.

Have a good one.

I dont think that is too high in consideration of the additional work not originally mentioned.
Not directly comparable but Ducati Glasgow over here charge PS 48 + 20% VAT Labour so I think I would get a similar bill if I gave them the work.
