Quiet Duc
I can't believe I'm asking this, but....
Does anybody have suggestions for making my exhaust note quieter? Running Fast By Ferracci pipes, and they're just a bit loud for the neighborhood. The only thing I've run into on the forum is a thread about making metal wire inserts that hold steelwool - I have visions of blasting out red-hot balls of steelwool and causing forest fires - and seriously, I can't picture that as a very long-lasting solution. Anybody have some thoughts?

Check out used parts sales here or e-bay or even salvage yards etc for a stock system. Wear ear plugs. Use 2nd or 3rd gear to get out of the neighbourhood.

I bought and fitted some Decibel Eaters for my Sil Moto cans but all they did was make the engine response fluffy and made little difference to the sound level so I would actively advise against those.
As above you could source some standard cans and then try and release a little more sound but that would be trial & error.

I found no acceptable solution either after looking for sometime. Perhaps you might consider fabricating something yourself such as a silencer that would slip over the end of the pipe. Double wall canister with baffles no wool (think silencer for firearm concept). Clamp it on with cushioned hose clamp. Then remove when down the street.
Just thinking, perhaps to many cups of coffee this AM.

Db killers; manufacturer of the cans may also have them available. My ST3 has the Termi cans; the db killers did muffle somewhat and didn't kill the performance.

Have you checked with FBF to see if they have "db killers" available for your pipes?
My Staintunes have removeable spuds which cut the noise down to almost stock level. I run them without the spuds, but it is nice having the quieter option available.

I'll give FBF a call - they have an odd website, and I can't email them. I looked at the
Speng Engineering site also, but I'd have to talk with them - couldn't tell from the site whether the DB-Killers would work on the FBF's or not.

You might also consider repacking. Depending on the mileage, you could see a decent reduction in dbs from repacking with a good quality glass mat. After 10 or 15K miles, the packing deteriorates enough the notice a diiference when refreshed.

I made my own DB killers and just kept shortening the inner pipe until I had the sound I wanted for my GPR's.
