Does the LCD light up?

I've noticed that on my new to me 98, that the LCD isn't visible at night because it doesn't light up. Is this the way it was meant to be, or do I have something burned out/broken?

Thanks,
Eddie

The temp/fuel gauge? Yes it does light up normally. I think some have had luck repairing the screen, it is electroluminescent, not a bulb. Worst case you can swap for a good LCD unit.

Thanks for the response. Sorry for the slow reply, obviously, I'd asked this question a while back, but missed the notice of a response.

lcd light

Yeah, I have a '95 ST3 I bought in early Sept and the lcd display does not light up. Love the bike and I am living with it dark at night. The local dealer said the only fix is a new display (@$1,000.00) and then you start at 0 miles and mess up your service warnings.

Better take another look at your bike or your typing. The MY 98 ST2 was the very first ST model and the ST3 was introduced in MY 04.
