How is anyone mounting/wiring GPS?
Where do I put this? I have seen a mount peg going into a handlebar end but don't know where to find one. HELP Please ?

I have used the Ducati Designs GPS mount for several years.

There is unused switched (by the key) power near the instruments. The connector is tied up below the instrument cluster. It is protected by a 5A fuse in the fuse box.

I've also got the steering stem ball mount from Desmotimes, and at first tried the cradle that was delivered with my Garmin Zumo 660. That worked fine most of the time, except for a certain rpm range around 4000rpm where the vibrations caused the GPS to lose external power momentarily, causing annoying messages on the screen. I used a rubber-mounted Touratech GPS Mount to solve that problem. I'm very happy with it. Yes.. quality equipment doesn't come cheap. I've seen that there's a new version (2.0) of that mount available too.
To power the GPS, I use a key-on 12V signal that comes directly from the wiring harness.
Cheers,
Mark

I choose to keep the power on the GPS all the time. It seems that during rest stops, we all congregate around my bike and play with the GPS for extended periods of time.

I've used an additional circuit panel on most of my bikes. It allows the most flexibility in choosing how to power whatever widget I choose to use. Sometimes I want power on all the time, other times only when the key is on. It also reduces the number of connections on the battery, and simplifies wiring. For the GPS, I first power my tankbag, and tap off that for my Desmo Times Ram Ball mounted GPS. I love the tankbag power!

Mounting is an issue with a steering damper.
No wiring I just power it with 2 small solar panels with batteries in the map pocket of the tank bag.
They give me about 10hrs each, one is always recharging.

That sounds cool! Do you have a pic?
One downfall of my system (hot at all times) was realized last week...I forgot to unplug after a ride then a stretch of cold and rain came in...dead battery .
Thinking about changing over to the switched power source.
