ABS Pump Failure
Why does this stuff never happen when I'm just around the corner from home?
Last June, while half way through a four day ride and 500 miles from home, my ABS light came on. I stopped, turned the bike off/on, and the problem went away. Problem solved, or so I thought.
Three months later, this time only 300 miles from home, the light started acting up again. Only this time it wouldn't ever go out. Plus, I had a noise that sounded like gravel in a coffee can coming from somewhere inside the fairing. However, the brakes seemed to work fine and I was able to maker it home.
Finally got the bike into the shop (Wilson's in Fresno) and it turns out I have a failed ABS pump. Although the replacement part is around $1700 plus several hours lagor to install and bleed, my Ducati Ever Red extended warranty is going to cover everything (minus a $50 deductible).
Although I didn't like paying for the warranty when I bought it, I am sure glad I did.
