Yes. Having something like these in a triangle with the headlight helps other vehicles judge your distance and speed. The change in apparent length between the lights as you approach is easier to see with the quick glance you are lucky to get from peeps on cellphones that are eating and painting their toenails. Wait, that's giving "drivers" too much credit to be able to do any three or four things at once.
They would also help as marker lights when the headlight is obscured by something like a vehicle that you are following. Quite often a single m/c headlight will blend into a sea of traffic and appears to be a car. You may not see it much there, but I will bet a lot of folks here have experienced the surprise when they see the lonely amber light on a car that has only one working headlight.
