Front wheel bearings ST3

I have the front wheel off and the bearings out. In my greasy hands are two bearings one being smaller than the other in both diameter and thickness. The smaller of the two has an aluminum collar behind it that is appx. 1/4" in thickness and slightly smaller in diameter. I have aftermarket Carrozzaria wheels if that matters. My question is if I order a set of bearings for my front wheel what is in it?

My bearings are shot and I can readily see that they are very dry and almost without grease. The dealer was the last entity to touch them when they installed the wheels 2 years ago and I admit to not repacking them last fall. LT says that he replaces the wheel bearings every 15K miles so I now have it on my maintenance list.

Anybody have information on this? I would like to order 2 sets (front and rear) while I am ordering them so I am asking what set to purchase.

Thanks all.

If they are different sizes, you may have to go to Carrozzaria for that information. I would not repack the bearings. That may incur more damage to the seals than good. I had to replace my originals at about 30k. The ones I got from Boca bearings are holding up at 52k. I did get a replacement set from desmotimes with my last order to have on the shelf.

I did learn a lesson when needing a timing belt pulley bearing that had no markings on the side of the race, look on the OD surface. There were part marking there that survived being installed, abused, and removed. The shop pointed them out.

Have a good one.

Thank you, Tony. My bad as there are numbers marked right on them. 6205-2RS and a 6005-2RS. They are a very popular bearing used in snowmobiles. I found them at MFG Supply for about $5 a piece.

Sorry, all. Had a brain hiccup.

No worries. The markings are often covered by grime. That's a great price and for the cost and ease of replacement, it kind of doesn't matter how long they last. The original ones on my bike didn't prove to be anything great.

On thing, do you see a "C3" suffix on your part number? For the original rims, there is supposed to be the C3 spec, which gives a more open tolerance for heat expansion. Although, I have wondered if it is even necessary on such a low RPM application.

Have a good one.
