ST REAR TURN SIGNALS (any equivalents in the market?)
Hello,
I have read many -interesting- threads about the rear turn signals relocation.
I think that the easiest mod for me would me to just relocate the turn signals from the outer side of the hard case holder (antler), to the inner side of the antler.
Should i just look for LT Snyder's "shorty" turn signal casings?
I have found in the local market a couple of interesting turn signal sets (made by Rizoma and Vicma), that might be good for the relocation project -given the fact that they are short enough to fit in the space between the license plate and the antler, but there is one drawback (which another member has already mentioned):
Their "footprint" is different. The ducati signal casing has a pin with a hole -through which you route the cable- and then you use a simple screw (away from the cables) to mount it.
On the other hand, the aftermarket ones have the cables running through the screw itself.
How do you actually fit aftermarket signals on the antler, using the stock cables? (the antler does not have threads in its holes, does it?)

I really didn't like the look of the bike at all with the "antlers" left on when the bags were off, so I got a set of lights to mount to the oem location on the fender and have a second set of the same lights mounted on the "antler" that I just leave on. When I want the bags on, then I just take off the fender sigs (quick disconnects) and slap on the pannier racks. It fairly fast. Works for me. Here 'tis:
Parts Needed for Clean Look Without Bags?

Hello and Thank you for the replies.
@Mark : I do not favor the Fender eliminator solution, because -it may be a plug and play setup that will look factory, but it eliminates the long fender (which may lead to problems/corrosions as I read in other threads).
@Duc-a-tak : Those signals are really nice!!! But there is a slight problem........I mostly use the bike for touring, so the antlers will stay on.
So, the problem is, how do I fit turn signals on the INSIDE of those antlers (either on the antler itself or on the fender (using the clearance between the fender and the antler).??
If I fit them on the antler, how do I mount -any- flasher that fits? (e.g. I found the rizoma zero 11 that is small enough, but....the antler has no threads!!)
And then there is another thing: How do I remove those dreader stock flashers that hang on the outside of the antlers without ruining the wiring that runs through the antler.....
How will I be able to mount them again (if i need them for any reason), without having to re-route the cabling in the antler, which I heard that It is a major pain in the *ss

The way I approached it was to mount the signals to the fender eliminator that I got from Evoluzioni and pulled the signals from the antlers. Just wasn't any point for me to having signals on the antlers when I had the bags (aka panniers) off. I do recommend the shorties from LT for the signal indicators that are mounted on the fender eliminator so that when the panniers are mounted, there is sufficient room for them. The signals are still visible from the rear aspect.
As far as "ruining" the antlers...well you pull out the wire and if you wanted to replace the stck signals onto the antlers you could do so by fishing safety wire through the anlers then pulling the signal wire through. Unless the antlers with stock signals attached all of a sudden become supper valuable, I reasoned I'd never have such cause...it is completely doable.
Photo below is show of "stock" length signals on the fender eliminator and below that is a second photo where you can see the signal touching the channel on inboard side of pannier. No Biggie, but I went with shorties from Desmo Times to sort that out.

Completely clear grimah1w!
In order to mount the eliminator, you DO remove the stock plastic fender, and mount everything on the eliminator, right?
Does LT sell the shorty signals?
On his site it says "not available"....

I suppose that depends upon whereabouts in the world you are.
It does not say on your profile, so it is impossible to know.
Which of the seven continents are you on ? That will narrow it down a little....

@mark: I live in Greece but I ride my ST all over Europe. So it meets sun, rain -even snow- in every trip.
Please excuse me for not introducing myself.
My name is Sam, I'm 39 yrs old, I entered the Ducati world 1 year ago (Last October that I drove a lovely ST3s ABS all the way from Northern Germany to Greece).

Superb Sam, you certainly have the right bike for that then.
It really helps for people to know where you are and what bike you have.
Why not enter your location in your profile so it comes up under your avatar ?
Why not enter your bike model and year in your sig via the dropdown quick links menu under your name at the top right of the page ?
