Variety- the spice in life
So I bought the ST3 with side panniers, swiveling gizmos under the seat that allow me to attach my tail bag for trips, the Wolfman tank bag fits like a glove and I think - lotta weight for to/from work.
I picked-up a set of second hand ST4 tail lights from ebay this week that will attach to the predrilled holes in the mud guard, wiring is plug-and-play, and only requires a few minutes to change from touring mode to the fighting weight "sports bike". Clear lenses match the front's clear lenses.
I'm liking this ST3; the red trellis frame izza be-you-tiful! Thanksa Ducati!

I've got 4 bikes in my garage, and everyday that I ride the ST3 is a day that I think about offing my GS. I probably never will, but the ST3 is both pure sex and pure utility in one package...that's how I like 'em!
Congrats and enjoy it.

Waco - I think you will find there is not enough clearance to have indicators mounted on the mudguard whilst the pannier rails are fitted.
You can fit them lower down if you are willing to make a few modifications.
If you need I will post a photo of mine but you will also find other threads giving alternative options also.
Otherwise congratulations on a wise choice of steed , you will enjoy many miles of pleasure.

I haven't studied what it will take to remove the rails; it doesn't appear too difficult after my cursory peek but will mount the lights without the rails.
She's a nice ride, but so was the K1200LT - only 400 lbs heavier. Both girls do like to dance!

Bracket needed when panniers/rails removed?
As it turns out, once the pannier rails/structure is removed, it appears I will need a bracket of some type that will attach to the can and the passenger foot peg. Is there a pre-made bracket or will I have to get my tools out to fabricate from aluminum flat stock?
Thanks for any help you might have.
Curt

After removing the pannier and studying the issue, I must apologize for the faux pas of taking only a cursory look. Once the rail is removed, and the exhaust pipe clamp is loosened, the exhaust pipe rotates, allowing the bolt on the can structure to fit nicely in the lower bolt hole of the rear peg. Good idea by Ducati to use geometry in their design.
