Mounting zumo on steering stem nt
Hi all
I have the zumo and the Steering Stem Nut with Ram Ball from desmotimes seems to be the best mounting solution.
I would rather not throw $35 for a tool to switch these out. So- does anyone in boston ares have said tool?
Or if not, is there a workaround to pull the nut?
I am not trying to skip paying desmotimes-- I am ordering a crapload of other stuff but would love to save the 35 for a handle of stoli..

I have the tool as well you could borrow, but live further away. I will add that it is really worth buying the tool as it is also a maintenance item to check the head bearings for proper tightness. This is especially true if your bike still has the OEM caged ball bearings. Check eBay. They are listed there a lot, along with some other inexpensive items for maintenance.
Here's a link to the tool for less than $20.00 shipped.

Also search "ducati tools" under eBay motors for more.

I have tried two other routes.
A - The 1” ball that fixes to the handlebar nuts.(pictured)
B- Take said item in A and fix with a nut through a hole drilled into the yoke nut. A little tricky but using socket extensions like a chimney brush means you can hold the nut on the back

I also use method B which costs minimal however the yoke tool is necessary for torqueing the head bearings as stated above so a worthwhile addition to the toolbox.

If you are careful you can drill the hole in situ and then pass the nut up inside the headstock to connect with the ram mount

For those who have not yet bought a mount, check out the one by Ducati Designs. No special tools are needed for installation.
