WOW and a pannier and other question
Got my new/used ST4S back from 12k service. They said 6 valves needed/got adjustment, new belts, plugs, FI adjustment and DD light install for $1100. Ouch. Rockers, head bearings all ok.
Took it out yesterday and OMG. I cannot believe how fast this bike is, how it holds a line... its like telepathic
So 2 questions:
1- Installed the panniers- whoever said to loosen the plates on the cans first, saved me. Getting it all to line up was a PITA but got 'er done.
BUT - I put the first bag on without lining the bottom two bolts up into the bag. Now I cant figure out how to release the bag. I have turned the key to 'open' but it doesn't disconnect easily... I just don't want to force it. I am sure its simple but how to decouple it from the main metal coupling?
2- I just noticed today that my left lever is brembo and right is ducati. I'm assuming they were both brembo originally? Also, both are held via small black zipties. That can't be original/right? What is normally there through the hole at the begining of the lever
What a motorcycle-- I really can't think of anything better for me. Other bikes are Sport, Multisport, sport TOURING but this is SPORT touring and I love it.

To release pannier, simply unlock, press down hard on the oval button at the back of the lock, & it will pop forward towards you.

Most likely the spring retainer that holds the adjustment screw in place. Previous owner might have adjusted it, and couldn't get the spring back in properly. You should be able to see if the glue is missing as well.

Turn the key to the unlock position. Then there is a spot for you to put your hand closest
to the fairing side on the pannier. Lift straight up to release.

The Givi bags have an oval button. You don't have the Givi's

I have the Ducati bags that attach to a frame called nonfango or something (Im at work now). There is a male stainless colored triangle that pops from the frame into a female slot on the Ducati bag.
The duc bag has 3 positions on lock: open, top, release. I turn key to release and push down on it, wiggle the bag, etc but it won't come free.
Could it be jammed? I don't see any other buttons or levers to free it.

Mine require a fair yank up on the handle. Don't be afraid to give a good tug on the release handle, you won't hurt it.

The lever pivot bolts are held in place by stamped steel nuts on the bottom side. It's not uncommon for these to vibrate loose and fall off. Since OEM versions of these are unobtainium, many owners put a zip tie through the bolt to catch the nuts in case they come loose.
