Leaking oil from clutch slave

I admit, I put off changing my chain WAY to long, I was in a rut, working long hours, and didn't put aside the time. Short story, the chain got way to loose, and hit the clutch slave.

Now I have an oil leak, and am attempting to track it down. The chain did damage to the moving piston. If I take the slave off for more than a very short time, I loose all pressure to the clutch, and it takes a lot of fiddling to get it back working.

Looks like oil is coming out between the rod the slave pushes on.

Replace the slave?

I've got a nice clean one you can have (free) if you'd like it. Just send your name and address to me at sales @ ducatidesigns.com.

Assuming it's an OEM slave, replacing it is your only option. I also can’t imagine a chain getting loose enough to hit the slave without there being some other damage too. Swing arm? Case? Center stand?

Almost all of the OEM slaves will eventually leak. Mine went somewhere around 15K. Replaced it with an Evoluzione brand slave.

The favorite slave cylinder in our shop is the
OBERON Clutch Slave Cylinder: Ducati

It is easy to install, more reliable than any slave cylinder we have used, easy to find neutral, lever effort is easier, it is well made and designed--and it only costs $125.

I have them on several of my own project bikes.

Bad news, I've got stuff dripping from both arrows, I think, but for sure there is a small weep from the orange arrow, which is probably the main cause of the dripping.

I'm just going to button things back up, because I need to get food. And more importantly, need to get to work tomorrow. Would it be completely hideous to just rough up the surface, quick-steel it over, and put in a new clutch slave cylinder?

Once I get my other bikes working, I'd be more up for taking the case apart and doing a real fix.
