ST2 upper triple
Hey guys, I am picking up a 99 ST2 this weekend and I am curious if a monster 696 top triple will fit this bike? I have a brand new set of easton bars that I want to use and that seems like a good way to get them on there.
Has any one installed any monster top triple to the ST2 to utilize a standard bar?
Thanks
Andrew

I guess I'll have to find out the diameter of the stock st2 forks and the diameter of the 696 forks. Or figure out which bike has the same dimensions of the top triple so I can find an easy swap.

I have one in the garage I used, I believe it was off a 620 monster, just because it was cheap. I wanted to see if it would fit, it was fine with a little grinding to the guage mount area of it. So they wouldn't contact my guages.
I didn't use bars on it, I used ST3 risers and bars, so I needed different upper clamp to clear the risers.
you could probably find some photos in my posts from mid 09 about my naked ST2, ST2+, ST2CR etc.

Beyond the triple clamp fitting, you would have to consider faring clearance, especially at full lock. It's a little tight even using Cycle Cat clip ons and they don't have a huge amount of rise over stock. Not sure where the bars you want to use would place the grips and fluid reservoirs compared to already available aftermarket risers and clip ons, but it's worth looking into clearance as well. You can reduce lock to lock travel using the adjusting bolts on the lower triple to gain some additional clearance, but that can make a bike already a bit hard to maneuver at parking lot speed a little worse. Post some pics if you pull it off.

nice, maybe I will look for a 620 clamp, do you know the form dimensions?

Clearance is not of too much concern for me, if it clears that would be good, if not I have no problem taking the fairing off and making it a naked bike, I dont do too much touring and I enjoy the look of a naked bike.
Thanks for the heads up

I "think" most of the monsters have the same[simular]clamp, the 620 was just bargain priced, a cheap test.
The naked ST will reveal much more than you hoped for and be a lot of work.
