Noticeable groaning when …
Noticeable groaning when I pull away from a dead stop unless it’s fairly gingerly. Vibration too. Feels almost like its coming from the left side.
Anyone got an idea ?
Thanks

When was the clutch last looked at ?
(I realise its not on the LH)
Could be a build-up of dust.

Thats a good question... the clutch does not feel like its slipping.
Okay another dumb question... the window on the left side of the motor I assume it’s to line up timing marks?

The window shows the TDC poisition of the vertical cylinder. There is a mark on the rotor that lines up with the pointer in the window at TDC. The marks on the belt drive pulleys and the clutch cover line up when Horizontal is TDC.

someone else described that sound as chewbacca groan. Mostly likely glazed or worn clutch. Numerous threads on pulling the plates, and if still in spec for thickness you can send them lightly to remove the glaze.

Check the main nut on the hub!
Here is a write up I did on cleaning the clutch.
Cleaned my clutch today!
On the left side check the chain and the primary sprocket for wear or binding.

I am not here to help in any way: Did you check to see if my ex-wife was on the back with you?

The clutch of my 02-ST4s sounded that way as I would start up a steep hill with the OEM 38T rear sprocket. I never heard the sound again when I switched to a 42T rear sprocket.

So, what you're saying here is: Your bikes groans when you ask it to work???? Maybe you should bring it to an Occupy *fill in the blank* protest and demand someone to fix it for you!
Clean the clutch as va duc says. Pretty much needs to be done once or twice a season depending on how you ride and how much the noise bothers you.
