ST Rear brake mod's or alternatives???
Hi all, just wondering if anyone has the same problem as myself? Im pretty tall and have long legs!! I find that there is not enough adjustment on the rear brake lever? I have put it as low as I can and I still struggle to get my foot on the rear brake pedal. Just wondering if anyone has come across a dog legged pedal or a bracket to to move the brake assembly down?
John

Came across these on the desmotimes site. ST footpeg lowering kit in the modifications section. Could this be what you are looking for?

I did look at them but they only lower the foot pegs and not the brake pedal! I have an idea though, so may have a go at moding it myself!! I will post the results here.

I wasnt sure if you read the desmotimes description, but this might help re:footpeg lowering kit.
1. How are these brackets made?
The brackets are made out of 1/4" (6mm) stainless steel. They are waterjet cut and then tapped with threads. After the plates are waterjet cut, they are tumbled to give them an even finish and smoothen the edges. Bolts are included to bolt the plates to the frame, plus a longer rear brake pedal adjusting bolt is supplied to lower it if need be.

I did think about a longer bolt for the plunger, the only problem with that is the angle of the screw for the brake light micro switch will become a problem. I have tried adjusting as far as I can and screw then sticks on the switch, I would have to try and maybe bend the screw? I'm thinking of maybe cutting a V out of the brake pedal, bending it and then getting it welded as it's aluminium?

I noticed Ducati Designs offers a set of adjustible footpegs for the St's, wonder if this would help. Looks like the length and the angle can be adjusted over a much greater range than the lowering plates. Hope this helps.

Actually it does a great job.You can rotate the peg back giving you ample room for your foot to engage the brake pedal.

I've also been playing with this issue. The Desmo Times plates lower the stock footpegs by 1" (26 mm.). The DD front footpegs come in 2 offset lengths, 23 mm. and 30 mm. But either way, once you've lowered the footpegs, your rear brake lever is too high and needs to be lowered. So you lower the footpeg by screwing in the adjustment, and then the brake switch bolt doesn't touch. I bought a larger truss head bolt, turned the shaft down and threaded it so the rear brake light would work.
What would be nice is a rear brake lever like the stock one but with the hole further forward, so the lever sat lower - and the hole for the brake switch screw at a higher angle. But I don't think anyone makes such a lever. Maybe I should go into business <lol>...
