ST3 HID Headlights
Who has made the conversion?
What brand did you use?
Low Beam AND High Beam?
Do you love it?
Cheers!

I did the swap on my 1198 and it was FANTASTIC. I used the 55w kit from Gotham Cycles.
I'm still researching kits for my ST3 as well. The lights arent horrible, but HID would be a big improvement.
I'll watch this thread and see if anybody chimes in.

Hello,
I have a ST4s 93', I upgraded to the HID kit. Best thing I ever did...
The lights on mine were so bad that I did very little night riding. (becouse I ride to damn fast). Don't remember what brand I bought right now but will post later when I can find the info. Well worth doing. I went with the HID verses buying the whole new headlight assembly. It was a cheaper route. But I am well satified with the mod. Total cost: $ 325.00 Two lamps and two balases. One high and one low beam. Great instructions. 2 hour to install. comes with new wiring harness and optional relays.

You guys who've done the HID conversion - how long does it take for your high beam to come up to full brightness after you hit the switch?

When I switch on high beam, it takes about 10 to 15 seconds for full brightness. If it is on and warm it's just a few seconds..

Is it bright enough to run the low during the day? I usually run the high during the day.

Make sure you get a digital ballast (the box that attaches to the globe) they are smaller and much quicker to turn on than the analogue ballasts.

You may also want to consider doing the headlight mod that keeps the low beam on all the time, so when you switch to high beams the world doesn't go dark.

Good stuff. Talked with my local shop and this was the approach he took on his personal ST3; one HID on low beam, and the none on high, but both work at the same time.

I got a Chinese kit off eGhey for very little, about €60 all told and did the low beam on my MY02 ST4s.
It is much better, but the dimmer shade over the low beam still obscures a lot of the light.
I think I may rip it apart and see if there's ought can be done with it.
