Rear brake pad change

Is there some trick to removing that pin that holds the rear brake pads in?

It was incredibly annoying to get the pin out, as the spring clip kept pulling it up, and it seemed like the side that the "C" clip goes on kept getting hung up.

There is a small , sprung , plastic ring on the pin which makes it a tight fit.
It needs tapping out with a small drift and then tapping back into place so that you can fit the c' clip. Nicely lubed with some copper slip of course.

I did tap it with a flat punch, but it seemed like there really should have been a better way. Guess not.
