tire information?
I am looking for tire info. Yes, I have read almost all the treads (they are great info). I have read many of the on-line reports and reviews. Almost everyone loves the new tec. for the Sport Touring World but no one has any “higher mileage reviews”. So what I am looking for (if any are available) is an update on how may real world miles people are getting or have gotten so far on the new Pirelli angle/Michelin pilot/ Metzler Roadtec. These 3 are the ones I am looking at. If anyone thinks I should look elsewhere please speakup. I am currently on The Michelin pilot w/9800 miles on them. They will not last much longer.
Thanks

I got 9800 out the rear Angle St , that was two up and with a load
all of the time, easily doubles that of the Strada.
I hit the wear bars not at the center ( but close ) but on the sides , i should have taken a picture but forgot to. Good grip wet and dry. Excellent traction
powering out of the corners as well as braking and mid corner too. Tip in is excellent and is very stable in the sweepers. Road irregularities do little to upset them , with the exception of tar snakes and gravel.

I had a little over 7,000 miles on the angels, its a good tire but not the performance I was expecting from it. Not sure what my next tire will be.

Is that a Michelin pilot road?
I have a set on and the rear has only lasted 3k!!
Doesn't help only having tarred and chipped roads round where I live which are really rough on rubber.
Think the PR2 & PR3 would have more last.

There is a new Dunlop Roadsmart just about to be released.
Dunlop are making big claims but apart from that you would be pretty safe with the Michelin PR2 unless you do a lot of wet riding when the PR3 might do the business better.

Extreme Mileage??
Well since you have read most of the reviews and people thoughts on what is on their bikes, I'm a bit confused.
IMHO....
Any tire that lives for more than 8k miles on my ST4s I DO NOT want on there. I've used high mileage tires before and found them NOT to be of my liking too fricking hard and lacking in grip. Many of us in the Sport-Touring world are very fond of the word "Sport".... In other words I run the crap out of my bike and use the tires hard, with one or two-up, fully loaded or empty. I have 5500 miles on my Pilot Road 2's and am leaving in the morning for another 2k mile trip to Death Valley, all on back "J" roads. I will probably get over 8k on my Road 2's while offering decent traction/grip and great wet weather safety....
High mileage= Avons come to mind immeadiatly. IF you are touring, then I guess fine. You might get 12k or more out of them.....
The subject of high mileage tires has been brought up many times, too many compromises for me.....
Enjoy,
M

mbevans, I am not looking for "ultra mileage" tire. 8-9K with good grip in the wet would be great. My St is a daily runner and I us it for my work every chance I get.

Sorry, I saw "Higher Mileage Reviews" I thought extreme.
Since you are getting such high miles out of a set of "sports" most any of the top 3 will net you really high miles. My last set of Pilot sports netted me 2800 miles till I hit the wear bars. So we do not ride the same bike the same way.
Any of the top three will yeild you "higher" miles than your sports....
Enjoy!

Me, too, because this topic has been beat to death, buried, dug back up, and beat to death over-and-over-and-over again.
There are so many variables to tire life that only YOU can determine how many miles you can get out of a tire. Some people can kill a tire in under 2000 miles and others will tell you stories of getting 10k, 15k, or even 20k to a tire. The only way to know what kind of mileage you will get with your bike set-up, your weight, tire pressures, ambient temps, road temps, road surface texture, your riding style, and a whole bunch of other variables is to buy a set, run them, and if you aren't satisfied, buy something different next time.
