What would you rather have: 998 or F4
The 998 and MV F4 have always been my dream bikes. I would like to have one of these in the not too distant future. Lately prices on the MV's have come down a bit and you can get a low mileage mid-2000 (years) F4 for about the same money as a mint 998S or FE.
I know they are very different bikes and I have always loved twins a bit more, but I think we all know the F4 could be the exception to that preference.
So which one would you rather have and why? Pro's and Con's?

I owned an F4 for a while and a good friend of mine (who now owns an F4) had a mint 998 that he let me ride a few times.
For me the 998 would be much better to ride every day. The F4 was very aggressive and quite uncomfortable.
I find the 998 to be quite livable to ride every day.
Power delivery on the 998 was also much more linear and anticipated -it's easy to use.
The F4 was unpredictable and tough to anticipate and control - this would be a good candidate for traction control.
But compared to the F4 the 998 looks very dated and has nowhere near the power of the F4.
The F4 wins on looks alone for me but if you love the vintage SBK look of the 998 I think it's a more practical bike.

I think you need an "I can't decide" choice in that poll.
I don't believe the 998 looks dated at all. It is a pure toss up that only a test ride could sort out for me. The worst part is that both machines sound as good as it gets, short of WWII piston engines or F1 engines going through the gears.
Have a good one.

I think the F4 is a spectacular design but I just love the way a Ducati 4V makes power.

I've always wanted a 998, so that's my vote.

That's pretty much my take on it as well. It would be so hard to choose without a full back to back test ride.
The looks are very close, they both look amazing in two totally different ways. I guess I give the edge to the 'ol squinty eyes.
As for the sound, I give the edge to the MV, at near redline it sound totally intoxicating.
