Duc owners use radar detectors?
Not sure how to set up a poll... just wondering if you use a radar detector or not?
I use a Escort, Passport 8500 X50 on my ST1300 and will be installing a mount on my 900SS. This gadget saves my ass time and time again. I also use the HARD system with it.... it's a wireless led that resides in your helmet and blinks when your juiced.

Radar Detector
I had one installed on my R1 and Aprillia Mille R. Saved my butt in Dallas Texas on several occasions. I now have a 999R Xerox and will be mounting the detector on it soon. I also have the laser jamming system which I have never installed on a bike but will try to also install on the 999.

Sorry... just saw the thread on radar detectors in the sport touring section. Don't mean to re-hash old topics... anyway... radarbusters.com has info on jammers....

I'd love to have one, but they are illegal here in Australia.

yep.. here the coppers have Radar detector dectectors. They even have the 'right' to strip your car or bike down until they find it.. book you anyway then leave you with everything scattered along the footpath.
If I was cynical I'd also believe they might 'find' that stash of drugs you were 'running'.
Just weekend I heard the coppers were even using plain cars with camera mounted radars on our most popular sportbike mountain, then baiting the bikes by doing 60 in the 70 zones with double lines and 10 over where passing is permitted. All this in the NAME of reducing the road toll and 'safety'.

I hear ya Mal, I'm in NSW and they play similar games here. Can you say revenue generation?

Radar Detector Tests
Here is the link to tests done with a radar detector and laser jammer on an R1.

or

The article appeared in Super Streetbike
I have used the Escort with the HARD system and it works great. I purchased the Blinder Extreme Laser Jammers system but have not installed it on my bike yet.

If one reason to buy any bike is to commute more efficiently at very high speeds, then this is THE setup to have. I find speed is VERY addictive, i now ride at 100 on a regular basis, the speed limit feels like a crawl. I have to re-adjust by driving the cage so I don't go off the deep end.
