Depends..
If you put Stoner on a Monster 696 i bet heīd beat most street R1 riders. You know Bayliss that BEAT the fastest Superstock time on a ROADTIRE equipped 1198S right?
On the other hand.. Put Spies on the R1 and try to follow him around Laguna! Good luck, thanks for playing catchup.
What Iīm saying is that on our level, the bike is capable of such much faster riding that its ridicolous to expect an factually correct answer. My guess is that the 1198S will probably be the best "Suprbike" bike for a normal rider, because its very deceptive and the engine doesnīt care much if you miss a gearchange. The same can be said for the R1 aswell as the 1098R and the stock 1198, but the 1198s seems the best value for money if your a twin fan. The R1 is the cheapest, but still a very very good bike, but i donīt like the looks
My 2c.

For what it is worth, the new R1 has not lived up to its billing in the side by side tests in all of the major reviews. Seems like a lot of the complaints have been about the front suspension. I think both bikes are probably never going to be pushed to their limit by the majority of street riders. But I would vote for the 1198S for what you are getting in that package.

Well, to be fair, so far in the liter bike tests, the 1198 has come out on the bottom, with Kawi taking each test....
