what would you do?
Hi there guys
last night i was eating with my mother and a friend at fellinis and a interesting topic came to the table. since i had the small accident about a month ago my mother has been very worried about me going to the mountains and doing track days in the bike. now that I'm in school she does not want me to fall of the bike and lose a semester or so because of injuries and she is very worried that i could get seriously hurt or even die in an accident.
So we are eating and all of a sudden she comes up and tells me "would you rather have a new BMW convertible instead of your ducati???" and I told her "naaaaahhh no way". then she comes up and says "how about a porsche???" and I tell her "well it all depends in which porsche". she says that she will get me a brand new cayenne. i instantly told her NOOOOOO. "maybe a new carrera" i told her kind of kidding since i thought it was going to be an instant NO. she only told me as long as it has 4 seats its ok. then I opted for one of the new M3 then again she said it could be possible.
Seeing how you guys love your bikes and I love mine to death, I really dont see myself without my beloved 848, what would you do if you had to choose between a porsche or m3 or stay with your ducati??? I already have a nice honda element but then again there is always a big risk in riding my bike, and riding a porsche (probably a cayman) or a bimmer (might be an M3) wouldnt be that boring neither.
HELP its driving me nuts
PS: if i could i would get the porsche sell it and buy me 4 ducatis

It's really not a hard decision.
I can't relate though because I broke my back for everything I have.
If I was in the same situation, I'll take the Porche. That's only because I love Porches. My dream car and I will have one for sure.
Be nice to your Mom.

it would be cool to hang out in a porsche but sometimes i think it doesnt seem right to have a porsche at 21yrs old. im pretty sure I wont be able to afford these toys when i live by my self. and btw this thread is not to show off. I dont want everybody to think that i am asking this so you could all see that I will buy a porsche or whatever. I used to be really into cars but once I got into the bike I really think i dont like cars anymore. this is because i would really want opinions. I dont want to get the car and then regret it for the rest of my life. I LOVE MY BIKE, but on the other side there is always a possibility that my bike could take my life away. I dont want to regret not buying the porsche or the bimmer that is why i am seeking your help.
and LAN you will get yours sooner or later, and believe you will feel way better than me when you get it because you worked for it. I just happen to be lucky in that part of my life (which is not the most important). and yeah I love my parents to death

I sold my Porsche and I'm about to sell my M3. Over the years I've lost all interest in fast cars and its all about the bikes now.
Unless you get something crazy like an Enzo, cars are just big heavy people movers. If I'm gonna own a car I'd rather it have a lot of luggage space, good fuel economy, and 4WD. When it comes to excitement I'll take the pedigree of a superbike any day.
ps, fast cars can take your life just as easily as a fast bike. While cars are safer at slower speeds, once you get in to the triple digits you're prolly gonna get pretty fucked up whether you're on a bike or in a car.

You should do the responsible thing. Get the BMW. Then, send the 848 to me, and I will dispose of it properly for you. PM me for shipping info...

It's about your Mom worried for your safety.
It's all up to you. Most Moms are worried. I've had several bikes and my Mom kept telling me to sell the damn things. I did, but I always get another one, A better one
No matter what my Parents say, it's all up to me. I'm on my own, I decide for myself, but Parents will always worry.
So do whatever it is that you want. You're very young and like bikes so I can see how you're leaning to keep the Ducati.
If I was on the spot, I'd get the car.
The Ducati is more affordable.
It's not all about the bike.
In reality though, Bikes are probably 100x more dangerous, more fatal and have a higher chance of accidents than a car. Some people survived a crazy car crash, but for a bike, forget it. No chance.
2 wheels < 4+ wheels when it comes to safety. Always.
If your Mom is worried too much about the bike, just use it for the Track then and some occassional street. Up to you guy.

I'm not into being maniputated by my parents, so.....I do wahtever I damn well please. I've pissed off my parents MANY times in my lifetime, and will probably continue to piss them off. I recall back in my college days, I ticked my mom off so much, she refused to talk to me for a month.

I suggest you add one more choice to the poll:
- Can't relate.
Why? Because I can't relate to any part of the situation. Someone offers to buy me a car of my choice? Can't relate to that, never happen. I'll continue to work for what I have, thank you very much.

Bingo.
Put me down for "I cannot relate to one thing in your post".
