Stop for the Law?

If you are cruisin with a a bunch of pals or alone, going 80-90+MPH on the Highway, and you pass a cop , or a speed trap.... Do you stop? or Keep it moving? BE HONEST!!

If you stop, you know your gonna get it... maybe even loose your license, and your bike.

If you keep on going, you run the risk of injuring yourself and others... What would you do?

I thought about this question last night, when a fellow rider who happens to be a MD. State Trooper told me that "He" wouldnt stop. I found that somewhat intriguing.. Me personally, I would probably stop, but its got me thinking now...

Jail Time

BTW... I was pulled over on 66 East boud in VA. 15 years ago, going 122MPH (Just got my MC License) And I stopped... After the Cop yelled and screamed at me, I went to court, and the judge was surprised I did not have a lawyer. I figured, I didnt need one. I told him I just wanted to pay the fine, and get back to work. Make a long story short, The judge sentenced me to 30 days in Jail, and put me in cuffs on the spot in the court room... I WAS SHOCKED!!!My wife posted bail, and I only had to serve the day in the "Clink" ... Luckily the happy ending was on my next court date, the cop didnt show, and they threw it out.

It's tough to out run that radio. As soon as you try the stakes get higher from speeding, a misdemeanor to evasion, a felony. Not the brightest idea.

Not going to lie....depending on the situation and surrounding area, I may or may not....if no one else is at risk and it's out in the country, I think I'm pretty much gone.

I've heard here in MA, law enforcement is discouraged from chasing motorcycles due to the possibility of the rider getting injured. If there was a state trooper sitting in a ditch on the side of the highway and I blow by him at 120mph, I would have to think whether to slow down or just continue chugging along and would cover so much ground before he even started to get up to speed. On that note, I know of quite a few folks that have just kept going on the highway and the police haven't come after them.

From an ex pig.....just take your beating. In fact when you "accidentally" go past a trooper at mach 1 just immediately pull over and wait for him. He'll appreciate it no doubt and you might escape with a warning. He really can't "time" you going by him if he's moving too. There are provision's in the vehicle code that vary from state to state so he can cite you for something(i.e. careless/reckless driving). If you blow into a speed trap (radar) just remember there's probably a chase car down the road to grab you. If you enter an officer's "area of influence" the painted lines on the road, they'll be timing you w/ VASCAR or Acutrak or some other approved speed timing device. Again, usaully with a chase car down the road to pull you over.
And if you run, when they get you, their probably going really peed, so the better you handle it, the better you'll be treated! It is tough to out run a radio.

100% Agreed... Especially in a speed trap situation. If there's traffic, you could be cunning and if the the copper is in a car, you could split lanes until your hearts content. But the moment traffic calms down, he'll be right on your ass, no matter how fast your going. That ticket, might be jail time.

Face the music, learn to fight in court! LOL

Stop

I would not want my daughter to see me on one of those stupid "Americas Worst Car chases or Speeders" Shows.

When I wanna go fast I "Take it to the track"
no need to endanger innocent people.

BTW never been convicted of a traffic violation been riding motos for almost 30 years.

Back in high school a buddy of mine tried to outrun a cop in his Charger... The entire Tingsboro Ma. police dept (like 4 cars) chased him around for 10 or so minutes untill he was forced into a ditch. He was pulled from the car and beaten to a pulp while 2 passengers watched. The police report stated he slipped and hit his face on a guardrail. He spent 3 months in the hospital, followed by 6 months in a youth facility. When he finally came back to school he did not recognize any of his friends, and spent the 12th grade in special needs classes.

Don't mess with cops.
