Help me pick my leather suit size

Hi all,

Based on my mesurements, I fall into the cusp of a size 50 and 52. I'm 5' 10" and 165lbs and have a 31" waist and 40" chest. I'm leaning towards the 50 but my last two sets of been 50's (Dainese, Spyke) and they were a tad tight (they don't loosen up as much as they advertise). I would like to hear of your experiences when selecting a size for leathers.

So should I go 50 or 52?

Short answer: get the 52.....more info? Below...

I'd say call the place you plan to buy from. I'm your size plus 15 lbs and am wearing Technic brand. They run small. I was recommended a size I would have considered huge for me but they fit great. Sportbiketrackgear was who I worked with in my case. Now, if I knew I was between the two sizes you are fairly sure on I'd go the larger one. Why? Well, under my leathers I wear the Bonn padded shorts to protect my hips and thighs as well as a beefy back protector. I can still squeeze in a chest protector if I decide to do so. I'd assume you'd do the same. That's my 2 cents. Enjoy your leathers! They look great!

Or do what herbivator just said below my post.

Why not try them on. I think Berik is the same as Motogp which you can find everywhere.

Get the comfortable, looser fitting suit.
If you're a track day rider, suit aerodynamics are unimportant. Being comfortable on the bike, being able to move and breathe are. The looser suit will flow more air as well, to keep you cooler.
If it's too loose, it will abrade against your skin if you crash and cause injury, but it has to be pretty loose to do that.

The MotoGP guys (i.e. DePuniet/ Hopper) get spooned into their leathers because they go 300kPh and every little wrinkle of material matters.

For sure, go to a store and try it on. Every manufacturer's suit fits differently, even the same size. It's like a helmet, don't get the brand you think looks cool, get the brand that fits you.

If you wear a back protector it is going to make that 50 feel even more snug.

Yea, once you get your under suit on, back and chest protector, you won't probably even fit in the 52! I always edge towards the smaller size because it will stretch a lot, but I'm glad I went with the 50 instead of the 48, which fit me tighter, but wouldn't have fit me at all with the back protector.

Also, depending on the manufacturer of the suit is what size you'll take. From prior experience, an Alpinestars 52 is roomier than a Dainese 52. To be sure, try different suits on with your undergear to figure out your size.

I just bought the same suit, different color, but they run a little smaller than most. Go with the 52! BTW The suit is top notch, I really like mine.

Try that shit on... not all suits fit the same.

What kind of body type are you?

I've got a really lean and muscular build. I'm 5'10" 182lbs and I've got a gigantic chest/shoulders/arms but a tiny a 30" waist. Size 52 fits my hips, waist, and legs nicely but, but absolutely does not fit my chest and shoulders. Size 56 is the best fit for my upper body but is way too big for the rest of my body.... Anyways I ended up getting a size 54 suit and had to get it taken in at the midsection and thighs for it to fit well.
