If the unthinkable happened
Imagine for a moment that the Ducati factory stopped producing bikes and focussed on electronics and spares were non existant and as an avid biker you had to choose another brand (I know it's upsetting chaps, chin up, it is hyperthetical). I had a dream last night my bike was stolen and I couldn't get a replacement because the factory had closed. In my dream my wife said "What's the big problem honey, just get another bike".. As if hey!!! Anyway I awoke in a cold sweat!!!lol

I hope that nobody choses - to stop riding all together-.
I'm torn because I would probably replace the Duc with a Triumph in your senario, but I really want a DRZ400 to add to the garage.

If Ducati quit making motorcycles, it wouldn't bother me too awefully much. I'd keep the ones I have until it wasn't feasible to keep them. To replace them, hmmmmm.......I'd probably go the Big Four route for my sport-bike/sport-touring needs. I'm pretty much happy on two-wheels, no matter what the name on the tank says. Heck, after we bought my wife's R1, I was so tempted to sell my 748 and by one, that I would have if the 748 had more miles on it or was worth more than it is....then, again, a Bimota or MV Agusta would be tempting.

MV is the only other bike that grabs and keeps my attention. I am not sure exactly how the rotary valve motor works but the horsepower figures I have seen are very impressive.

1. You (like the rest of us) are in need of considerable professional help.
2. I can't answer this question, it's too painful. Please insert an option to this effect...

Interesting thread.
(1) Logic to me says GSX-R 600. The problem is that bike just doesn't get me excited but it's sure hard to beat the reviews I've read.
(2) Old HD, like a Pan, Shovel or Flathead would be cool. However, HD overpricing is out of control and Harley Davidson of Beijing didn't do much for me.
(3) Honda VTX 1800C is a great bike. It's alot of bike for the money. I had one and it was great; BTW, and get this HD, mine was MADE IN OHIO.
(4) MV if I could afford it....
(5) KTM if I could afford a Super Duke. Way cool.
My vote after all this? A Triumph; Daytona or a Triple if I could find an affordable one. Those are coooool bikes.

Chaps, you can't choose "old Ducati's"as an answer! In this poll, they all shockingly disappear and the current book value in cash is left in an envelope on the floor where your bikes were!!! So that said, "old Ducati's" are out, you must choose another brands chaps.. I'd have choosen KTM as in the name (Kick Twenty Minutes) resembles the "making mechanics out of owners" philosophy that Ducati has and so would feel a bit more at home. I must say that a paradigm shift in biking from sprt to either cruiser or dual purpose and fitting that bill a HD or a BMW 1200GS would be on the cards.. The KTM RC* though weighs heavy.....Those I'm afraid would all be like french kissing your sister as the real woman is the Ducati......

Ohh! I was torn between Triumph and Benelli.
Triumph because they are making brilliant bikes these days, especially the Speed Triple, and a little bit of patriotism.
Benelli because I love the looks of the Tornado (especially in green and silver), and in 2000, 2 of them did a parade lap of the Isle of Man TT course and they looked and sounded tremendous, set the hairs on my neck standing.
So I chose ...Benelli, because they are so rarely seen and they're a bike that people like to come and look at. God, I'm shallow!
