Gates 507C Sonic Tension Meter on the way! Would anyone be interested in renting it?
Hi Guys,
Rather than rely on my local Ducati dealer to check my timing belt tension,
or cobble together a PC based solution, I decided to order this Gates Tension
Meter from my local Gates distributor:
http://www.gates.com/brochure.cfm?br...cation_id=3539
Would any of you DIY'ers be interested in renting it (for a nominal fee) to
help defray the cost of the item? The logistics could be worked out later,
but I thought I'd gauge the community's interest first....
Mike

Hey Mike, How much is it to buy? The Clavis unit is expensive and its the reason people stay away from it, or those who buy it, don't let it out of there site. If the Gates unit was any cheaper, perhaps its worth getting and letting others borrow it. I know plenty of locals who would love it! heh

Hi mbohn,
A search of the archives should turn up a lot of information for you....
Several members have made their own version of a sonic tension tester from a PC (with sound card), guitar tuners, microphones, etc.
I figured folks would jump at the chance to use the tool Gates designed to check their belts!

Tye,
The tool sells for $800.00...not exactly chump change!
That's why I was hoping to defray some of the cost.

Thanks. I've got a Parallax PC Oscilliscope that works pretty well, I may give that a shot.

Does anyone have the sonic tension settings for a 748S 2001, my manual only gives the manual setting of 2.5.
Thanks in advance
