748/916/996/998 Coolant Tank Survey

In light of recent repeating events, I would like to ask all owners of the first generation superbike about their coolant tank.

I am mainly interested in finding out what percent of all first generation superbike have had their coolant tank replaced and how many times.

This survey asks about the bike that you currently own. If you own more then one superbike, please refer to the bike that has had it's coolant tank replaced the most.

Thanks for your input.

First generation superbike? I thinkthe 851/888 owners will have something to say about that comment!

I have a 2001 748S with somewhere over 30K miles. I've never replaced the tank.

748/916/996/998 Coolant tank survey

In light of recent repeating events, I would like to ask all owners of the second generation superbikes about their coolant tank.

I am mainly interested in finding out what percent of all second generation superbikes have had their coolant tank replaced.

This survey asks about the bike that you currently own. If you own more then one superbike, please refer to the bike that has had it's coolant tank replaced.

FYI, its a well know fault that on the older style SBK's (748,996,998) the coolant tank (that sits up just under the ignition) can go bad along the seam. The tank is molded together from a top and bottom half, and the line where they join often becomes faulty and will leak (or seep) coolant. It usually comes out as a fine spray while riding and can be seen on the inside of body work, or runners. Or as mentioned sometime you just smell it before you see it. Basically Ducati knows this and your local dealer will swap them out for free with a new one.

Both times, mine has never busted at a seam.
