What is the least amount of gear you have worn on a ride?
Living in Southern California I am constantly seeing people riding with shorts. I cant see myself ever doing this. So I want to see how many people have done this and what is the least amount of gear you have ever worn on a normal ride.
This excludes down the street or in a neighborhood. I would like for this to be neck down since every state has different helmet laws.
For me I have never ridden in less than leather jacket and jeans.

Strictly from the neck down, I've spent considerable time riding in shorts and t-shirt. I know what this makes me in many riders eye's and thats okay.
I ride bikes for lots of different reasons. One of those reasons, is that it allows me to express myself in whatever way I see fit. If it's 35 degrees, or more with the humidity I'll happily go for a ride in a t-shirt, shorts, and my hi-top Converse kicks. If I want to stuff myself into a thick leather suit, on a scorching hot day, I'll just go for a ride in my car with the windows up, and the A/C off.
And for what it's worth, I'm a 20yr firefighter in a relatively large urban area. I've seen motorcycle fatalities. I've also seen trauma related to riding mishaps where the rider probably wished he or she were dead.
I haven't learned much, but I have learned that "safety" is an illusion. Eventually we all find that out.

The least I've worn was a shirt and jeans , and that was a 5 minute ride . normally I at least have a helmet on too . I've taken the 70 mph tumble down the road a few times . I like my gear .

Usualy just the jacket and jeans if it's a short ride. For the long weekend rides, i prefer the full gear. The ilusion of safety give me confidence
For the shirt part ... no way ... I will ended up friyng my legs and I dont like burning hair smell :d

When I was in high school there was this main road where everyone hung out on friday night. There was this ummmmm guy that on a dare rode a Honda 450 down it wearing nothing but a red cape and sneakers. He was ummmm referred to as Capt. Naked for his entire senior year. Kids do the darnest things.
