Rate Your Dealership's Service Dept.
I am just curious if my experience with Ducati service is similar to other Ducati owners.
Let's rate our dealerships' service departments.
The poll evaluates two elements:
- Price: for parts and labor compared to non-Ducati service departments
- Service: how happy are you with the quality and timeliness of their work and communication?
Let's not mention the names of the dealerships we are evaluating unless you recommend them highly. Lets keep our criticisms anonymous, as they are not telling their side of the story.
Finally, if your experience is especially good and you recommend your service dept, please tell us.
...ESPECIALLY if it is in Southern California

I had hoped to get a better response.
I'd like to know if my experience is typical.

When they did the first service on my 11' MTS which was included in the sale of the motorcycle They gave me the receipt for my records and it was less than my first service on my 08' Sprint ST. So I see it being on par with most Euro services

Ever since my dealer let go some key top shelf mechanics the service dept. has gone way down hill. Not to mention the service manager must be a relative of Hitler. The guy is a class A asshate and not fun to deal with at all. I have purchased 4 brand new Ducati's at this dealer and I will be purchasing my next one elsewhere for sure.

It may be because I am a friend of the top wrench but my dealer, Atlanta Motor World, is highly recommended. Price-wise I think about the same as most (let's face it, there are set times for tasks) and always friendly and responsive. They have been excellent in supporting mine and others tank issues and even let me send out a new tank for coating before install.

Recently, my 7500 mile service came due.
My dealership was unable to schedule me a time to get that done anytime within a three week period of time. They actually recommended that i do it myself! (Which I did).
I still have to take the bike in so they can clear the service reminder.
I wonder what that will cost me.
At the 600 mile service, i did the work myself because they had to cancel the appt. I set with them two weeks prior (too many drop ins came in). I took it to them a week later to clear the service reminder, and they charged me $150.
I HATE having to pay them for work i perform!!

Redline Performance Motorsports in Yorktown, VA is my dealer and is the best in sales, service, and knowledge(sharing).
I stopped by there for the first time in July this year and met Dave(Owner), Jon(GM), Joe(Parts Guy), Jason(Ducati Master Tech), JB(Ducati Master Tech), and Jeff(Service Tech). I asked a ton of technical questions about the bikes, and their business/goals. I asked many 1198SP performance related questions of Jason who took the time to answer every question to my satisfaction.
So..., I fell in love with the Red 1198SP and bought it 3 days later. Now I've bought two new bikes from them this year.
I do all the maintenance and repairs on my vehicles and yet I trust these guys to do the work correctly and care for the bike as I would. When I bought the 1198SP I had them install a 14T front sprocket in the deal and soon after, the 600 mile service.
Later I installed the Termi exh, the EVR airbox and the PC-5 and then took it to them for the full dyno mapping. All work was done to my standards which are "anal" to say the least.
When I bought the 1100SP Hyper, I also had them install the 14T front sprocket and swap out the OEM Supercorsa tires for a new set of the Scorpions as they better fit my intended use for the Hyper. All work was done as I expected; no dents, dings, scratches, or anything that would indicate a service wrench had ever touched the bike, etc. I consider the whole Redline team as friends, which is very rare in my experience for vehicle dealers of any brand.

I'd like to see this additional poll option...
"Screw the stealerships. I do my own services."

Then we could create a poll to "rate my own service." hahahhhhhaaaa
If you do all your own service (as I have so far), how do you clear the service reminders and get firmware updates?
If you take it to the dealership for those, what do they charge you for it?

If I could get them to actually order parts for me I might be able to tell you if they do good work. I've called on three separate occasions (Ducati Oklahoma City) and each time they have said "we just ordered the parts for you and we will call you when they come in. Don't call us". Well, I call back a month later and guess what, no parts and no record I even ordered anything! I live three hours away so it's not like I can just stop by. Extremely frustrating.
