Avatar Help, Please

So how have you folks included quality pics? I had to dumb down my Duke pic so much that you don't even notice the switchbacks (above Ortega, CA).

pdf or something?

TIA,
BC

if you have a photobucket account, you can upload photos & squash them down to avatar size. if the photo is busy to begin with, then it really gets crowded when it's sized down to itty-bitty scale.

My pics are 1600x1200 native; IIRC, it had to be reduced to 160x100 or something tiny...

Forget the roads. Even with a sharp photo, the background is going to be lost when you shrink down that much. But you're at a big disadvantage, because your photo is badly out of focus to begin with. Still, your composition places the motorcycle as the subject, not the roads. You might do better by cropping the photo so it's all motorcycle. This way, the subject won't be as small when you downsize.

If you don't have the software to downsize and crop, then attach the original to a reply or PM, and I'll see what I can do with it. No promises, though, because I can't fix out-of-focus conditions.

Good luck!
